IN THE COUNTY LEGISLATURE OF JACKSON COUNTY, MISSOURI Title A RESOLUTION supporting the Metropolitan Community Colleges of Kansas City, Missouri, in their efforts to implement the Western Missouri Public Safety Institute. Intro RESOLUTION # 12140, March 23, 1998 INTRODUCED BY Dennis Waits, County Legislator Body WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Community Colleges of Kansas City, Missouri are the owner and operator of the Western Missouri Regional Police Academy; and, WHEREAS, for many years the Academy has trained area law enforcement officers, providing POST-approved basic training and continuing education; and, WHEREAS, the effectiveness of the Academy is now in question, as the current leased facilities are inadequate for meeting present and future training needs of police, fire and emergency medical agencies; and, WHEREAS, in order to assure that the public's safety is protected by a highly trained and professional work force of police, fire, and emergency medical personnel now and in the future, the Legislature encourages the development of a regional multi-service training facility to meet the basic training and continuing education needs of uniformed public safety officers from throughout western Missouri; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature supports all efforts of the Metropolitan Community Colleges of Kansas City, Missouri, in developing the Western Missouri Public Safety Institute, including state of the art facilities, in order to assure that the public's safety is protected by a highly trained and professional work force of police, fire, and emergency medical personnel. Attorney Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
