WHEREAS The Sheriff’s Office has a need for an annual service agreement for its four Smiths Detection Hi-Scan 6040i X-ray inspection systems located at the Jackson County Courthouse (two machines, 415 E. 12th St., Kansas City), Albert A. Riederer Community Justice Complex (1315 Locust St., Kansas City) and the Eastern Jackson County Courthouse (308 W. Kansas Ave., Independence); and,
WHEREAS, a service agreement is necessary to ensure the maintenance of the machines and continued effective security screening and inspections at courthouse entrances, as a sole source; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to section 1030.1 of the Jackson County Code, the Director of Finance and Purchasing recommends the award of an annual service agreement for x-ray screening equipment for use by the Sheriff’s Office to Smiths Detection, Inc., of Edgewood, Maryland at an actual cost to the County in the amount of $36,564.00 as a sole source purchase; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that award be made as recommended by the Directors of Finance and Purchasing and the Sheriff and that the Director of Finance and Purchasing be and hereby is authorized to execute for the County any documents necessary for the accomplishment of the award; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Finance and Purchasing be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment, on the contract.

Effective Date: This resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
