Body
WHEREAS, Jeff Kamp, a Junior at Lee's Summit West High School, is one of eighty students chosen from around the world to spend three weeks studying in the prestigious summer school program at St. Hugh's College at Oxford University in England; and,
WHEREAS, to be selected for this program, students sent in an application, wrote an essay and had to receive a recommendation from a teacher; and,
WHEREAS, the students will attend various lectures by Oxford professors, complete strict course work, write several research papers, and have weekly tutorial sessions covering a specific academic discipline; and,
WHEREAS, Jeff is planning to study Psychology this summer while attending St. Hugh's College; and,
WHEREAS, Jeff enjoys entertaining with his improv group, Coffee Break, and traveling the world expanding his historical knowledge; and,
WHEREAS, Andrew is also working towards his Eagle Scout rank, is involved with an activist group called Clapham Sect Phase 2 whose mission is to make the student body aware of present slave trading and products being manufactured by slaves, and is a member of the Lee's Summit West Math club and Theater department; and,
WHEREAS, Jeff is the son of proud parents, William and Melva; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes and congratulates Jeff Kamp on his acceptance into the prestigious summer school program at St. Hugh's College.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
