A RESOLUTION transferring $297,549.00 within the 2011 General Fund and awarding a contract for the furnishing of vehicles for use by the Corrections Department and the Prosecuting Attorney's Office, to Dick Smith Ford of Raytown, MO, under the terms and conditions of Johnson County, Kansas Joint Governmental Fleet Contract No. 2011-0490, an existing government contract, and awarding a contract for the furnishing of van conversion services for use by the Department of Corrections to Handicap Conversions, Inc., of Kansas City, MO, as a sole source purchase, at a total aggregate cost to the County not to exceed $320,549.00.

Body
WHEREAS, the Department of Corrections has a need for seven new 15-passenger vans and three new minivans, and the Prosecuting Attorney's Office, Deferred Prosecution Division has a need for one 12-passenger van; and,
 
WHEREAS, pursuant to section 1030.4, Jackson County Code, 1984, the Director of Finance and Purchasing recommends the award of a contract for the furnishing of these vehicles to Dick Smith Ford of Raytown, MO, under the terms and conditions of Johnson County, Kansas Contract No. 2011-0490, an existing government contract; and,
 
WHEREAS, the vehicles for use by the Department of Corrections require security modification for use as prisoner transport; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Director of Finance and Purchasing recommends the award of a contract for van conversion to Handicap Conversions, Inc., of Kansas City (Platte County), MO, as a sole source purchase, for the reason that it is the only local provider specializing in uniweld construction of security cages; and,
 
WHEREAS, a transfer is necessary to place the required funds in the proper spending account; and,
 
WHEREAS, the County Executive recommends this transfer; now therefore,
 
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following transfer be made within the 2011 General Fund:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Finance and Purchasing be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the contracts.
 
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
