Body
WHEREAS, Jackie DeSouza, Chief Executive Officer of Lee's Summit Medical Center, was recently named as one of the Top 25 Minority Executives in Healthcare by Modern Healthcare magazine; and,
WHEREAS, this prestigious designation was established to recognize leaders of healthcare institutions that represent the diversity of our country; and,
WHEREAS, the Top 25 executives are selected by a panel of judges from applicants who have successfully served as leaders in healthcare organizations, shown the ability to effect change in the healthcare industry, demonstrated a willingness to share expertise with others in the field, and served as a role model to other minority healthcare executives; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. DeSouza has demonstrated an impressive ability to lead her team and a commitment to serving the community through involvement in several community organizations; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. DeSouza has been associated with HCA Midwest Health System since 2000, was named the CEO of Lee's Summit Medical Center in 2011, and had previously served as the Chief Operating Officer at Research Medical Center and Overland Park Regional Hospital; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. DeSouza has a Master of Health Administration from the Medical College of Virginia and a Bachelor of Science - Health Services Administration from James Madison University; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. DeSouza's impressive resume includes serving on the board of the Kansas City Free Health Clinic and as a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates Jackie DeSouza on the honor of being named one of the Top 25 Minority Executives in Healthcare.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
