AN ORDINANCE authorizing the County Executive to execute a Cooperative Agreement with the City of Kansas City, Missouri and MoDOT, for replacement of Rock Island Bridge at 350 highway, at no cost to the County.

Body
WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City and MoDOT would like to partner with Jackson County on a project to replace a bridge that crosses 350 highway to improve vehicular capacity; and,
WHEREAS, this mutually beneficial agreement will result in widening roadway; and,
WHEREAS, the work will include removal of the existing bridge and replacing it; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City and MoDOT have the funds to replace the structure, design of the structure was completed by Olsson, and MoDOT will manage the construction of the bridge; and,
WHEREAS, during construction of the bridge a portion of the Rock Island Trail corridor will be closed, once the structure is complete the bridge will be turned over to the County and maintenance of the trail will be provided by the County; and,
WHEREAS, the Parks + Rec Department requests the approval of the attached Cooperative Agreement with the City of Kansas City and MoDOT; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute the attached Cooperative Agreement with the City of Kansas City, MO, on behalf of the County.

Effective Date: This Ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its signature by the County Executive.
