Body

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City, Missouri and Pan-Educational Institute's "K C Futures 150" program is designed to reduce crime and improve public safety by providing art education, employment training, internships, and placement programs for at-risk youth; and,

 

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City, Missouri, has received a Local Law Enforcement Block Grant for this program, in the amount of $2,049,843.00, from the United States Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance; and,

 

WHEREAS, this grant is subject to a local match in the amount of $52,000.00; and,

 

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City and Pan-Educational Institute have requested anti drug sales tax funds to provide the required local match for this program; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney has reviewed this request and recommends funding  in the amount of $52,000.00 from his grant match account; and,

 

WHEREAS, the attached Cooperative Agreement for Services with the City of Kansas City, and the Pan-Educational Institute provides a suitable mechanism by which to implement the agreement and understanding of the parties regarding the matter; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute the attached Cooperative Agreement for Services with the City of Kansas City, Missouri, and the Pan  Educational Institute; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Managers of the Division of Finance be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the Agreement.

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
