Body
WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City, MO, is desirous of having the Sheriff of Jackson County, Missouri, provide additional law enforcement presence in the areas of the City adjoining the unincorporated areas of Jackson County in other areas of the City traveled by Sheriff's deputies while performing their official duties, and at sobriety checkpoints established by the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department; and,
 
WHEREAS, the County has the resources and the manpower to provide this additional law enforcement presence; and,
 
WHEREAS, the attached Intergovernmental Cooperative Agreement sets for the sets for the mutual understandings and obligations of the City and County with regards to the cooperative effort regarding the additional law enforcement presence; and,
 
WHEREAS, this Agreement is in the best interest of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of the County; now therefore,
 
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute an Intergovernmental Cooperative Agreement with the City of Kansas City, Missouri, in a form similar to the attached agreement, for additional law enforcement presence in areas of the City.
 
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
