Body
WHEREAS, in 2013, Laclede Gas Company acquired Missouri Gas Energy (MGE); and,

WHEREAS, currently there are 225 individuals employed at the MGE call center located in midtown Kansas City, Missouri, 87 of whom are represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union No. 53; and,

WHEREAS, these employees provide valuable service to consumers in western Missouri and support the middle-class lifestyle that is the engine of the Kansas City and surrounding area economies; and,

WHEREAS, on February 27, 2014, Laclede Gas Company presented Local 53 with a written proposal to eliminate the MGE call center on the expiration of the current collective bargaining agreement on April 30, 2014; and,

WHEREAS, Laclede has made it clear it intends to permanently layoff the Kansas City call center employees and outsource this work to an unidentified third party; and,
