Body
WHEREAS, Carmelinda Maria was born on September 27, 1904 in Bagni Di Lucca, Italy, to Pietro and Guilia Cerchi; and,
WHEREAS, Carmelinda married Agricola Giovanni Rossi on January 29, 1929, and they enjoyed 52 years of marriage prior to Agricola's death at the age of 80 in 1981; and,
WHEREAS, Carmelinda immigrated to Kansas City, Missouri, on January 31, 1955 from Bagni Di Lucca, Italy with her daughter Lia (Biscari), to join her husband and two sons, Loriano and Angelo Rossi; and,
WHEREAS, Carmelinda's longevity enables her to share her strength and wisdom with her children, 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren ranging in age from 42 years to 2 years; and,
WHEREAS, in 1996, while visiting family in Italy, Carmelinda was honored by her home town of Bagni Di Lucci with a Return of the Emigrant Award; and,
WHEREAS, Carmelinda has been a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church for 50 years, enjoys cooking, gardening, caring for her dog, Fonze, and taking care of her household; and,
WHEREAS, she will be honored by her family with a birthday celebration to mark her 100 years on Sunday, September 25, 2004, at the Sons of Columbus Hall, 2415 Independence Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Carmelinda Maria Rossi on reaching this significant milestone and wishes her continued health and happiness.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
