Body

 WHEREAS, the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri wishes to recognize and honor individuals who have displayed exceptional dedication, resilience, and commitment to serving their community and those in need; and,

 

WHEREAS, Dr. Kelley, a remarkable individual, has exemplified these qualities through her exceptional achievements and unwavering determination to make a positive impact on the lives of others; and,

 

WHEREAS, Dr. Kelley proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, demonstrating her selflessness and dedication to protecting the freedoms and values we hold dear; and,

 

WHEREAS, through her unwavering commitment to personal growth and academic excellence, Dr. Kelley earned a doctoral degree in psychology, showcasing her intellect, perseverance, and passion for understanding and healing the human mind; and,

 

WHEREAS, recognizing the importance of holistic well-being, Dr. Kelley further obtained certifications in health and wellness, and functional nutrition counseling, demonstrating her commitment to promoting a balanced and healthy lifestyle for herself and others; and,

 

WHEREAS, Dr. Kelley is not only an accomplished professional but also a survivor of the MCB Camp Lejeune water contamination crisis, a catastrophic event that caused numerous adverse health concerns for countless individuals; and,

 

WHEREAS, despite the challenges she faced due to the MCB Camp Lejeune water contamination crisis, Dr. Kelley has remained resilient and determined, channeling her personal experiences to inspire and assist others who require specialized treatments as a result of tragic events; and,

 

WHEREAS, Dr. Kelley's dedication to making a difference extends to her role as a loving mother to her daughter, Caresa, who was tragically exposed in utero to contaminated water from MCB Camp Lejeune, resulting in significant health complications; and,

 

WHEREAS, driven by her love for her daughter and her unwavering desire to ensure a better future for all children, Dr. Kelley is committed to establishing a non-profit organization that will provide support and resources to those in need of specialized treatments due to tragic events; and,

 

WHEREAS, the County Legislature of Jackson County acknowledges Dr. Kelley's incredible journey and her indomitable spirit, recognizing her as an inspiration to us all, and commending her for her dedication, resilience, and commitment to improving her community; now, therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED, that the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri extends its deepest appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Kelley for her service in the U.S. Marine Corps, her academic achievements, her pursuit of wellness and healing, and her determination to assist those in need; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Legislature acknowledges Dr. Kelley's resilience and fortitude as a survivor of the MCB Camp Lejeune water contamination crisis, and commends her unyielding efforts to assist others who require specialized treatments following tragic events.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Legislature recognizes Dr. Kelley's profound love and care as a wife, mother, and community change agent, and stands in solidarity with her in the pursuit of improved health and well-being for her and others affected by the MCB Camp Lejeune water contamination crisis and other tragic events.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
