WHEREAS, Louie A. Wright served as President of the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 42 from 1995 to 2011, and will celebrate his "official" retirement at an event June 2, 2012; and,
WHEREAS, Louie also served the union as the 2nd District Fire Fighters International Vice President from 2000 until 2008; and,
WHEREAS, Louie joined the Kansas City Fire Department in 1972 where he received Commendations for Bravery in 1978, 1980, and 1998 and was named Fire Fighter of the Year in 1982; and,
WHEREAS, Louie received a Master of Public Administration in June 1984 from Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government and went on to graduate with distinction from the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Law in 1991, where he had served as Editor-in-Chief of the UMKC Law Review; and,
WHEREAS, as an attorney, Louie worked at Brancato Haggerty & Palmentere L.C. from 1995 to 2005, and is presently an attorney of counsel specializing in labor law with Blake & Uhlig; and,
WHEREAS, Louie's dedicated and exceptional service to IAFF Local 42 will continue to be felt by union members long after his retirement; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates Louie A. Wright on his retirement and extends best wishes to him for his dedicated and loyal service to the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 42.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
