Body
WHEREAS, the Jackson County Parks + Rec Department is seeking support regarding the submission of a Land and Water Conservation Fund Grant application for Phase I of the Blue River Parkway Enhancement Project at the Alex George Recreational Area; and,
WHEREAS, the grant would be used for beautification of the park space offering rest and respite to Blue Park trail users; and,
WHEREAS, commencement of the project is planned for 2025; and,
WHEREAS, the grant application will be submitted to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, if successful it will require a separate authorization of 50% matching funds which will be requested in the Parks + Rec 2025 fiscal year; and,
WHEREAS, the Director of Parks + Rec is requesting the authorization to execute the documents necessary for the grant application submission; and,
WHEREAS, if awarded grant funding progress can be made as outlined in the 2022 Blue River Parkway Master Plan for the Blue River Enhancement Project; and,
WHEREAS, the following is the budget for Blue River Parkway Enhancement Project Phase I at Alex George Wetland Recreational Area:
Total budget: $425,000
Grant request: $212,500
Local match: $212,500 in 2025
WHEREAS, support of the application process of the Land and Water Conservation Fund Grant for Parks + Rec Department is encouraged; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature support the application process for the Land and Water Conservation Fund.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
