AN ORDINANCE appropriating $25,000.00 from the fund balance of the 2010 Grant Fund in acceptance of the Jackson County Sheriff's Office "Safe Routes to School Enforcement" grant awarded by the Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission, and authorizing the County Executive to execute an Agreement regarding said grant.

Body
WHEREAS, the Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission has awarded the Sheriff's Office a grant in the amount of $25,000.00 to cover the "Safe Routes to School Enforcement" program for the period of August 18, 2010, through June 6, 2012; and,
WHEREAS, the Jackson County Sheriff's Department will conduct neighborhood assessments, increased moving and non-moving violation enforcement, and education programs for students, neighbors, and parents regarding traffic safety for automobiles, cyclists, and pedestrians within a two (2) mile radius of Indian Creek Elementary School in Kansas City, MO; and,
WHEREAS, the Jackson County Sheriff's Department will use the grant funds for reimbursement of overtime used for "Safe Routes to School Enforcement" program; and,
WHEREAS, an appropriation is necessary to place the grant funds in the appropriate spending accounts; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation from the fund balance of the 2010 Grant Fund be and hereby is made:
