Body
WHEREAS, Jackson County Family Week was founded in 1998 by a Parent Teacher Association committee at Cordill-Mason Elementary School in Blue Springs, Missouri, as a way to strengthen families in Jackson County, and is the longest-running family project in the nation; and,
 
WHEREAS, the organization will celebrate its Fifteenth Anniversary with a reception and dinner at Blue Springs High School on April 16, 2013, at which time the Jackson County Family of the Year will be recognized; and,
 
WHEREAS, Jackson County Family Week, whose slogan is "Putting Families First," was created to honor and pay tribute to families in our area and to provide incentives to create family time through community-wide support; and,
 
WHEREAS, each year the organization accepts nominations for Family of the Year with over 500 families having been nominated since the inception of Family Week; and,
 
WHEREAS, in addition to "family time" grand prizes, special offers from local businesses, contests, and speakers, the organization has also formed a branch group titled, Company of Champions, which meets quarterly for companionship, resources, and support for families living with disability; now therefore,
 
 
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates Jackson County Family Week on the occasion of its Fifteenth Anniversary and extends best wishes to the organization and its members.
 
 
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
