Body

                                                               

WHEREAS, Jesse was born on June 10th, 1927, in Elmore, Minnesota, to Abraham and Josephine (Lascon) Garcia; and,

 

WHEREAS, Jesse was married to his loving wife, Rafaela ("Lali") Garcia, for fifty-four years; and,

 

WHEREAS, Jesse was a member of the Kansas City community for the past sixty-one years; and,

 

WHEREAS, for the past fifty-years, Jesse was a devoted church member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help/Redemptorist Church; and,

 

WHEREAS, he was  a Veteran of the Korean War, serving in the 5th Armored Division; and,

 

WHEREAS, Jesse worked for Union Pacific Railroad for thirty-eight years until he retired in 1989; and,

 

WHEREAS, Jesse belonged to a number of community-service organizations including La Union Cultural Mexicana, Union Pacific Old Timers Club, La Raza Political Club, and the Guadalupe Senior Center; and,

 

WHEREAS, Jesse is survived by loving wife, Lali, his daughters, Julie Mar and Lisa Aquino and her husband, Manuel Aquino Jr., his son, Nicholas Garcia I, his adored grandchildren, Nicholas Garcia II, Gina Miles, Lara Crist, Damion Garcia, Manuel Aquino III, D'Mitri Garcia, Marissa Aquino and great-grandchildren, Raquel Garcia, Nicholas Garcia III, Danielle Garcia, Shon Miles, Krystal Turner, Kaylea Thexton, Xavier Garcia, and Anthony Aquino; and,

 

WHEREAS, he is also survived by his uncle, Albert Lascon Sr., and his sisters Esther Reyes, Molly Garcia and her husband Chano, Delores Briseno, Helen Cesena, and Mary Brightwell and his brothers John Garcia and his wife, Helen, and Abraham Garcia and his wife, Beatrice; and,

 

WHEREAS, Jesse will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on through his inspiration to his many friends and family; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature commemorates the life of Jesse Lascon Garcia.

 

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
