A RESOLUTION congratulating Addison Lentz on his recent designation as a National Merit Scholarship finalist.

Body

WHEREAS, Addison Lentz, son of Alan and Jetta Lentz,  is a senior at Lee's Summit High School and has earned the designation of finalist in the National Merit Scholarship program; and,

 

WHEREAS, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, founded in 1955, conducts an annual National Merit Scholarship competition by administering the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, which produces a nationwide pool of semi-finalists representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors and includes the highest scoring entrants in each state; and,

 

WHEREAS, National Merit Scholarship finalists will be eligible for National Merit Scholarship awards; and,

 

 WHEREAS, through his pursuit of academic excellence, Addison has earned the designation of National Merit Scholarship finalist; and,

 

WHEREAS, Addison is an active student at Lee's Summit High School where he is vice president of National Honor Society, runs cross-country, is a Math Club member, and Scholar Bowl team member; and,

 

 WHEREAS, he has earned numerous awards and honors including Chemistry Department award, Gold Key Art award, Missouri Boys State attendee, Rotary Club student of the month, and top 1% of class medal; and,

 

WHEREAS, Addison is also an active community member who has earned designation as an Eagle Scout through the Boy Scout program and has volunteered his time for the Race for the Future, Grace United Methodist Church, Lee's Summit Social Services, Boy Scout Merit Badge Academy, and Mid-Continent Public Library; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Addison Lentz as a National Merit Scholarship finalist and extends sincere best wishes for continued success in his endeavors now and in the future.

 

 

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
