Body
WHEREAS, at an early age, Clydia relocated to Kansas City, Missouri, where she was raised and educated, attending Charles Sumner Elementary School and graduating from R.T. Coles High School in 1954 with perfect attendance, demonstrating her discipline, determination, and commitment from a young age; and,
WHEREAS, she was a faithful and dedicated wife to her late husband Robert E. Locke; and,
WHEREAS, she built a life rooted in love, family, and resilience, raising three sons, Vernon Jr., Darryl, and Gregory, and embracing her cherished role as a devoted
mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; and,
WHEREAS, affectionately known as “Granny,” she is the proud grandmother of Elisha, Chantell, Albert, Gregory, and Verrell, and great-grandmother of Ella, whose lives have been shaped by her wisdom, strength, and unconditional love; and,
WHEREAS, Clydia dedicated 34 years of exemplary service to Western Electric, AT&T, and Lucent Technologies before retiring in 1996, reflecting her strong work ethic and commitment to excellence; and,
WHEREAS, she has lived a full and vibrant life, finding joy in bowling, fishing, playing bid whist, exercising with Silver Sneakers at the YMCA and Ivanhoe Neighborhood Council Center, and traveling throughout the United States to participate in bowling tournaments, creating lasting memories and friendships along the way; and,
WHEREAS, guided by a deep and abiding faith, she is a devoted member of Macedonia Baptist Church, where she has faithfully served as the usher, greeter, and Mosaic ministries and remains committed to spiritual growth through regular Sunday school attendance; and,
WHEREAS, her warm and welcoming spirit, infectious smile, and generous heart have touched countless lives, leaving a legacy of kindness, faith, perseverance, and community connection; and,
WHEREAS, reaching 90 years is a testament not only to longevity, but also to a life well lived-filled with purpose, meaningful relationships, and enduring impact; and,
WHEREAS, her story serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of honoring our elders and celebrating the rich history, wisdom, and contributions they bring to our community; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED that Jackson County Legislature hereby honors and celebrates Clydia Locke on her 90th birthday, and recognizes her lifelong dedication to family, faith, service, and community.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
