WHEREAS, Thomas J. Walsh passed away Friday, July 1, 2005, and is survived by his loving wife Ellen Walsh, to whom he was married for forty-nine years, son David Walsh, daughter Carolyn Walsh Heinz, daughter Katherine Walsh, sister Jane Coffman, sister Virginia Eulich, six grandchildren, and six nieces; and,

 

WHEREAS, Tom provided over forty-five years of legal service to the Community; and,

 

WHEREAS, Tom first opened up his own law firm at the age of twenty-five in Lee's Summit; and,                                                                

 

WHEREAS, Tom was a involved in a number of organizations such as the following: Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, Phi Alpha Delta Legal Fraternity, Native Sons of Greater Kansas City, and the Lee's Summit Optimist Club; and,

 

WHEREAS, Tom was also a member of the Summit Democratic Club for many years, actively participating in grass root efforts; and,

 

WHEREAS, during Tom's tenure, he served as Chairman of the Juvenile Justice Subcommittee and Vice-Chairman on the Missouri Counsel of Criminal Justice; and,

 

WHEREAS, even in his illness, Tom continued to practice law, even going into the office the day before his death; and,

                                          

WHEREAS, Tom was loved by his fellow attorneys, clients, friends, and family and will always be remembered; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature honors the life and works of Thomas J. Walsh, Esq. for his distinguished career as an attorney for the past forty-five years.

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
