A RESOLUTION authorizing the County Executive to execute a Cooperative Agreement with the City of Kansas City, MO and the Pan Educational Institute for the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant-KC Futures 150 Program, at a cost to the County not to exceed $52,000.00.

Body

 

WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney's Office has recommended a Cooperative Agreement ("Agreement") with the City of Kansas City, MO ("City") and Pan Educational Institute ("PEI") for the County's participation as a partner in the KC Futures 150 Program ("Program") as a joint program of the City, County and PEI, at a cost to the County not to exceed $52,000.00; and,

 

WHEREAS, this Program is designed to reduce drug-related crime and improve public safety by providing art education, employment, training, internships, and replacement programs for at-risk youth; and,

 

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City has been awarded $538,386.00 by the Bureau of Justice Assistance of the U.S. Department of Justice for this Program and has requested $52,000.00 as a grant match from the COMBAT Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fund; and,

 

WHEREAS, the City has adopted an ordinance, approving a proposed Agreement; and,

WHEREAS, a copy of the proposed Agreement is attached hereto and the term for this Agreement will begin upon execution and will continue through October 30, 2006; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the  County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute an Agreement with the City of Kansas City and Pan Educational Institute; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on this Agreement.

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
