IN THE COUNTY LEGISLATURE OF JACKSON COUNTY, MISSOURI Title A RESOLUTION authorizing the Chair of the Jackson County Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fiscal Commission to execute an agreement with Children's Mercy Hospital for the continuation of the Family Friends - Healthy Tomorrows program in the amount of $40,000.00 on the recommendation of the Jackson County Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fiscal Commission. Intro RESOLUTION # 10820, May 9, 1995 INTRODUCED BY Lisa White Hardwick, County Legislator Body WHEREAS, the Jackson County Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fiscal Commission was empowered by Ordinance 1771, 1795 and 1941 to make recommendations to the Legislature for the expenditure of Anti-Drug Sales Tax Funds for the purposes of treatment and rehabilitation of drug offenders; and, WHEREAS, the County Legislature authorized grant matching funds through Ordinance 2373; and, WHEREAS, the Fiscal Commission has reviewed a proposal from Children's Mercy Hospital for its Family Friends - Healthy Tomorrows program; and, WHEREAS, the Family Friends - Healthy Tomorrows program is a inter-generational model whereby trained volunteers provide a role model for parents through peer support in the critical post treatment stage through visits with the family and children; and, WHEREAS, this program is an effort which includes information on accessing other community support organizations; and, WHEREAS, Family Friends - Healthy Tomorrows staff provide direct services in supportive counseling, and parenting education through in-home weekly visits for at least four hours; and, WHEREAS, the Family Friends - Healthy Tomorrows program receives federal funding from the Department of Health and Human Services in the amount of $50,000; and, WHEREAS, the Fiscal Commission has carefully reviewed this 1995 proposal from Children's Mercy Hospital; and, WHEREAS, the Fiscal Commission has recommended funding in the amount of $40,000 from the Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fund for the Family Friends - Healthy Tomorrows proposal; therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Chair of the Fiscal Commission is hereby authorized to execute the attached agreement, a copy of which is incorporated herein by reference, with Children's Mercy Hospital; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Manager of the Division of Finance be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the Agreement. Attorney Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
