WHEREAS, Chris Winburn, son of Steve and Lyn Winburn, and a 2006 graduate of Blue Springs High School, has earned the designation of a Blue Springs recipient of The Kansas City Star's 2006 Scholar-Athlete award; and,
WHEREAS, the Kansas City Star recognizes area seniors who have shown outstanding academic and athletic success by selecting one male and one female from each metro area school providing three nominations based upon grade point average, athletic honors, and faculty recommendation; and,
WHEREAS, Chris has been recognized for his academic achievements with the following awards and honors: Bright Flight recipient, Who's Who Among High School Students in America, Wildcat Academic Excellence Award, MSHSAA Award of Excellence, Channel 9/Hy-Vee Scholar Athlete, and Principal's Honor Roll; and,
WHEREAS, in addition to his remarkable academic success, Chris is a three-time varsity football letterman, football team captain, All-Conference football honors recipient, All-Area football honors recipient, Mr. Inspirational award recipient, a three-time varsity track letterman, a member of the Leadership Council, National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, Lead and Enhance the Accounting Profession, Character Builders, and the Spirit Committee, a peer mediator, and a tutor at Sunny Vale Middle School; and,
WHEREAS, Chris's future plans are to attend University of Missouri to pursue a degree in business management; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Chris Winburn as a Blue Springs High School recipient of The Kansas City Star's 2006 Scholar-Athlete award and extends sincere best wishes for continued success in his endeavors now and in the future.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
