A RESOLUTION congratulating the Lee's Summit R-7 School District upon receiving Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's first annual "Distinction in Performance" Award.

Body
WHEREAS, the Lee's Summit R-7 School District received Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's first annual "Distinction in Performance" Award for its achievement in demonstrating consistent gains in academic performance; and,
WHEREAS, this new award is based on a school district's annual performance reports, which are tabulated each year by the department using the same criteria as the accreditation standards for school districts; and,
WHEREAS, these criteria include Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) test scores, ACT college entrance test scores, student attendance, dropout rates, and other academic performance measures; and,
WHEREAS, to qualify for "Distinction in Performance" Awards, a school district had to meet 11 of 12 performance indicators during the last school year; and,
WHEREAS, the Lee's Summit R-7 School District exceeded this goal by not only meeting all 12 performance indicators, but also by scoring a perfect 109 points out of a possible 109 on the annual performance report; and,
WHEREAS, the Distinction in Performance Award comes approximately one year after the district was recognized by the department for having more schools on the top 10 list than any other district in the state save one and achieving "Top 10" scores in one or more areas of the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) tests; and,
WHEREAS, "We are pleased to be selected by the state of Missouri for our student's academic achievements. Our outstanding staff members, students, families and our supportive community make this type of student success an everyday reality in R-7 schools," said Dr. Tony Stansberry, Lee's Summit R-7 School District superintendent; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates the Lee's Summit R-7 School District upon receiving the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's first annual "Distinction in Performance" Award.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
