A RESOLUTION congratulating Ashley Nolan upon winning the title of Miss Missouri Preteen American Coed and capturing the crown in the speech competition of the Miss Preteen American Coed Pageant.

Body
WHEREAS, Ashley Nolan is the reigning Miss Missouri Preteen American Coed and recently traveled to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, where she captured the national speech competition title in the Miss Preteen American Coed Pageant; and,
WHEREAS, Ashley, daughter of John and Brenda Nolan of Lee's Summit, is a sixth grade Principal's Honor Roll student at Cedar Creek Elementary School; and,
WHEREAS, Ashley is one of 6 students out of 1300 to be chosen by the Cedar Creek Elementary staff to serve as a peer mediator to help her fellow students resolve their conflicts; and,
WHEREAS, Ashley is a champion swimmer and is a member of the KC Blazers Swim Team, the South Suburban Swim Team and the Cass-Miami Swim Team; and,
WHEREAS, Ashley is a volunteer at Hope House in Lee's Summit and shares her experience and growth as an adopted child rescued from a life of abuse and neglect with children in similar situations by speaking about Hope House and to prospective parents about Adoption and Beyond to encourage the adoption of older children; and,
WHEREAS, Ashley has overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles to blossom into a honor student, athlete, and positive role model; now therefore,
Enacted and Approved
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates Ashley Nolan on capturing the speech competition title of the Miss Preteen American Coed Pageant, commends her for exceptional leadership within the youth community, and wishes her all the best in her future endeavors.
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
