Body
WHEREAS, the Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers program was started in 1982 and is a citizen-controlled nonprofit organization facilitating telephone hotlines which give citizens a safe, anonymous place to call to offer information about unsolved crimes or wanted fugitives, without fear of retribution; and,
WHEREAS, the program is overseen by a 36-member Board of Directors made up of metropolitan area citizens; and,
WHEREAS, Bill Grigsby, a lifetime member of the Crime Stopper Board, will be honored by the Kansas City Metropolitan Crime Commission for his countless contributions to the metropolitan area on Thursday, April 5, 2007; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Grigsby's civic leadership has been recognized by numerous organizations throughout the area, such as the Northland Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year, Distinguished Service Award from Park University, Research Hospital Volunteer of the Year Assisting Mental Health, Outstanding Support to the Hispanic Chamber, Special Recognition from the Veteran's Hospital for Keeping the Promise to American Veterans for 30 years, Veterans of Foreign Wars Meritorious Service Award, and service awards from the Leukemia Society, Cancer Society, and Kidney Foundation, just to name a few; and,
WHEREAS, Bill Grigsby is a man of strength and integrity and has positively influenced the lives of Jackson County residents; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes Bill Grigsby for his undying commitment and contributions to the Kansas City Metropolitan Crime Commission, Crime Stoppers, and the citizens of Jackson County.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
