Body
WHEREAS, the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kansas City's Smart Moves program is designed to help young people develop skills to resist alcohol, tobacco, and drug abuse; and,
WHEREAS, this program serves the Club's Greater Kansas City and eastern Jackson County locations; and,
WHEREAS, this program is funded by a grant from the Boys and Girls Club of America, as a pass-through of funds received for the U. S. Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, in the amount of $153,000.00; and,
WHEREAS, the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kansas City has requested anti-drug sales tax funds in the amount of $120,000.00, to serve as a local match to the federal grant; and,
WHEREAS, the contract period for this proposal is January 1, 2007, to December 31, 2007; and,
WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney has reviewed this proposal and recommends the expenditure of these funds; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive is hereby authorized to execute a Cooperative Agreement with the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kansas City, in a form to be approved by the County Counselor, to provide local grant match funds at a cost to the County not to exceed $120,000.00; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Director of the Department of Finance and Purchasing be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment, on the Agreement.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
