A RESOLUTION congratulating and commending Pastor Daniel Roberson upon his outstanding record of achievement in community and faith-based services to Jackson County residents for the past thirty-five years.

WHEREAS, on July 22, 2000, Pastor Daniel Roberson of Kansas City, Missouri was appointed by Bishop Emmanuel Newton of the Church of God in Christ to serve as the Church's Administrative Assistant and District Superintendent of the Church's Western Jurisdiction; and,

 

WHEREAS, Pastor Daniel Roberson was born on May 28, 1937 in Kennedy, TX, to Superintendent Vernette and Missionary Gertha Roberson, as the ninth of thirteen children and became a licensed minister in July 1961 while serving as a Medic in the United States Army; and,

 

WHEREAS, Pastor Roberson married Joyce Ann Byrd on January 1, 1964 and this union  was blessed with five daughters, Dietri Spears, Adrienne Alexander, Dannell Hanks, Johanna Roberson and Denny Roberson, and a sixth child, Jesusette Jones was reared like their daughter with fifteen grandchildren and a host of other "church kids" that were treated as their own children; and,

 

WHEREAS, Pastor Roberson's wife, Missionary Joyce Roberson, was called from labor to reward on October 12, 2001; and,

 

WHEREAS, Minister Daniel Roberson was ordained as an Elder in July 1970, and later appointed as the Pastor of Refugio Church of God in Christ and built a thriving ministry, and accomplished having a new building erected and changing the name of the church to Saints Memorial Church of God In Christ; and,

 

WHEREAS, while pastoring Saints Memorial Church of God In Christ, Elder Roberson served as Co-Pastor of the Greater Shiloh Church of God in Christ with his father Superintendent Vernette Roberson, after the passing of his father in June 1978, Elder Roberson  was appointed Pastor of Greater Shiloh Church of God in Christ on July 12, 1978; and,

 

WHEREAS, Daniel Roberson retired from employment with Reynolds Aluminum after 30  years of service; and,

 

WHEREAS, Pastor Roberson's dream is to extend his ministry and provide low to moderate income housing on 6 ½ acres of land which he calls Shiloh Village, and to continues to broaden the scope of our youth with strong Christian education, and high self esteem to become assets to our community; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates and commends Pastor Daniel Roberson upon his outstanding record of achievement in community and faith-based services to Jackson County residents.

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
