Body
WHEREAS, Sarah Starnes received her Master of Social Work Degree and her Master of Public Administration Degree from the University of Kansas; and,
WHEREAS, Sarah has worked with the Missouri Division of Family Services, the University of Kansas Upward Bound program, the Kansas Youth Trust and Project New Pride, and the Transitional Living Consortium; and,
WHEREAS, Sarah has worked with the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center for the last 19 years in the areas of case work, group work, program administration and community organization; and,
WHEREAS, Sarah has been an active volunteer within the community, working to affect leadership change on all levels, including her election to the delegation at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and her position as the Staging Location Director for the Kansas City-area campaign headquarters for President Barak Obama's 2008 Presidential campaign; and,
WHEREAS, Sarah understands the need for comprehensive social work services, striving always to live according to the tenets of her profession and seeking to ensure equal access to the resources and opportunities necessary to allow all people to lead successful, fulfilling lives; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Ms. Sarah Starnes on being awarded the Social Work Leader of the Year Award from the Mo-Kan Chapter of the Society for Social Work Leadership in Health Care and extends sincere best wishes for continued success in her future endeavors.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
