IN THE COUNTY LEGISLATURE OF JACKSON COUNTY, MISSOURI Title AN ORDINANCE appropriating $54,060.00 from the unappropriated surplus of the 1998 Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fund, and authorizing the County Executive to execute a Cooperative Agreement with the City of Kansas City, Missouri, for its "In School Truancy Prevention Project," at a cost to the County not to exceed $139,437.00. Intro ORDINANCE #2815, June 23, 1998 INTRODUCED BY Dennis Waits, County Legislator Body WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City, Missouri, has received a grant from the Missouri Department of Public Safety in the amount of $278,875.00, as well as funding from the Kansas City, Missouri, School District in the amount of $278,875.00, and has pledged its own funds, in the amount of $139,437.00, for the City's "In School Truancy Prevention Project," the goals of which are to reduce chronic absenteeism, truancy, and long-term suspension in six target schools in the Kansas City, MO, School District; and, WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City has requested County Anti-Drug Sales Tax matching funds in the amount of $139,437.00 to implement this project; and, WHEREAS, $54,060.00 of this sum will be returned to the County to fund the salary and fringe benefits of an assistant prosecuting attorney to participate in the project; and, WHEREAS, this is the second year for this grant program; and, WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney has reviewed this proposal and recommends the expenditure of these funds; and, WHEREAS, in order to implement this program, an appropriation is necessary; therefore, BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation be and hereby is made from the unappropriated surplus of the 1998 Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fund: DEPARTMENT/DIVISION CHARACTER/DESCRIPTION FROM TO Increase Revenue $54,060 Unappropriated Surplus $54,060 Unappropriated Surplus $54,060 Prosecuting Attorney Kansas City In-School Anti-Truancy Project Grant 98-99 Regular Salaries 39,837 F.I.C.A. Taxes 3,048 Pension Contributions 3,187 Insurance Benefits 7,032 Unemployment Insurance 199 Worker's Compensation 558 Long Term Disability 199 and, BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the County Executive is hereby authorized to enter into the Cooperative Agreement, a copy of which is attached and incorporated herein by reference, with the City of Kansas City; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the Agreement.
