WHEREAS, Kansas City Power and Light Company (KCP&L) is in the process of planning and constructing a new 161KV high voltage transmission line, which will extend from its Hawthorne Plant, located generally near where I-435 crosses the Missouri River, to its Leeds Substation, located southeast of the intersection of I-435 and Raytown Road, which line will help serve the growing demand in the area for electrical power; and,
WHEREAS, KCP&L has determined that the most efficient route for this power line crosses the southwest corner of the Harry S. Truman Sports Complex and the west end of the adjacent Sports Complex Park; and,
WHEREAS, KCP&L has reconfigured its proposed route twice in order to minimize the impact of the power line on the Sports Complex and the Park; and,
WHEREAS, KCP&L proposed to pay the County $100,732.50 to compensate the County for the grant of this easement; and,
WHEREAS, the grant of this easement is in the best interests of the health, welfare, and safety, of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute the attached Easement Conveyance in favor of Kansas City Power & Light Co.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
