AN ORDINANCE appropriating $82,500.00 from the unappropriated surplus of the 1998 Anti Drug Sales Tax Fund and authorizing the County Executive to execute an agreement with the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kansas City, for its Juvenile Justice Delinquency and Youth Violence Prevention Program, at a cost to the County not to exceed $132,000.00.

Body
WHEREAS, the County is the pass-through agent for a grant from the Missouri Department of Public Safety in the amount of $82,500.00, for the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kansas City's Juvenile Justice Delinquency and Youth Violence Prevention Program, the goal of which is to provide early intervention activities among fifth grade students in four area elementary schools; and,
WHEREAS, the Club has pledged an in-kind contribution in the amount of $33,000.00 for this program; and,
WHEREAS, the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kansas City has requested County Anti-Drug Sales Tax matching funds in the amount of $49,500.00 to continue this program; and,
WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney has reviewed this proposal and recommends the expenditure of these funds; therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation be made from the unappropriated surplus of the 1998 Anti Drug Sales Tax Fund:

BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the Director of the Department of Finance be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the Agreement.
