Body

WHEREAS, the Finance and Purchasing Director solicited formal written bids on Request for Proposal 36-07 for the furnishing of group term life insurance for use countywide; and,

 

WHEREAS, a total of twenty-two (22) solicitations were distributed and nine (9) responses were received including one (1) no bid as set forth in Exhibit A; and,

 

WHEREAS, upon comparison, the proposal submitted by the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company of New York, NY, (AMetLife@) provided the lowest total unit cost for the base proposal that includes life and accidental death and dismemberment; and,

 

WHEREAS, MetLife provided the lowest total unit cost for additional optional coverage for purchase by employees; and,

 

WHEREAS, MetLife has proposed a rate decrease for 2008 and a three-year rate guarantee; and,

 

WHEREAS, this award is made on an as needed basis and the estimated cost of $50,400.00 for the first year will be subject to the appropriation process for 2008; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Administration now recommends that MetLife Insurance Company be awarded for up to a three year period as provided in the terms and conditions of Request for Proposal No. 36-07; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that award be made as recommended by the Administration and that the Finance and Purchasing Director be and hereby is authorized to execute for the County any documents necessary to accomplish the award to MetLIfe and the exercise of renewal options; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the contract.

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
