Body
WHEREAS, Section 1040.1 of the Jackson County Code, 1984, eliminates the requirement for competitive bidding when items to be purchased can be obtained from only one source; and,
WHEREAS, Section 1063.00 of the Code requires notification of and approval by the Legislature on such sole source purchases exceeding $5,000.00; and,
WHEREAS, the Purchasing Director recommends a contract with Midwest Block and Brick, Co. of Kansas City, MO, for Versa-lok blocks for the Little Blue Trace Bicycle Trail; and,
WHEREAS, the Purchasing Director further recommends that he not take competitive bids with regard to said contract for the reason that Midwest Block and Brick Co. of Kansas City, MO, is the sole known local licensed supplier of the blocks required to ensure consistency with existing structure; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri that the Purchasing Director be, and hereby is, authorized to execute for the County a contract with Midwest Block and Brick Co. of Kansas City, MO for Versa-lok blocks for the Little Blue Trace Bicycle Trail, in an amount not to exceed $9,534.24; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the contract thereby made.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
