Body
WHEREAS, Maurene M. Bartlett was born December 31, 1910, in Meadville, MO, to Earl and Vera Chalfant; and,
WHEREAS, Maurene grew up in Meadville, MO, and married her sweetheart, Harold Bartlett, on June 24, 1929; and,
WHEREAS, Maurene is the oldest of four daughters and spent her life closely involved with her sisters and their families, helping with new babies, nursing the ill, and bestowing valuable advice when someone needed counsel; and,
WHEREAS, Maurene's sister, Betty Moore, lives in Laclede, MO, and her other sisters, Maxine Wyrick and Charlotte Waits, the mother of Legislator Dennis Waits, have passed away; and,
WHEREAS, Maurene and Harold were blessed with two children, their son Jack Bartlett, who lives in Bentonville, Arkansas, with his wife Sally, and their daughter Sherri Mullins, who lives in Independence, MO, with her husband Jerry; and,
WHEREAS, in their early years together, Maurene and Harold traveled throughout the northwest as part of his job as a salesman, eventually settling in Independence, MO, in 1940, where they lived together until Harold's passing in 1986; and,
WHEREAS, Maurene worked at Bundschu's Department Store, the Lake City Arsenal, and at the Western Auto home office, from which she retired in 1975 after 25 years; and,
WHEREAS, Maurene has been a member of the Stone Church Community of Christ for the past 50 years, and a member of the RLDS Church for most of her life, and even at the age of 100 continues to volunteer with Meals on Wheels; and,
WHEREAS, Maurene is blessed with five grandchildren, Michelle Booher, Shannon Bartlett, Kimberly Shultz, Garry Mullins, and Dana Young, and eight great-grandchildren, Cory Mullins, Kaci Booher, Karli Booher, Ashlyn Young, Spencer Shultz, Chandler Young, Holly Shultz, and Malorie Young; and,
WHEREAS, Maurene also has several nieces and nephews, including Legislator Dennis Waits, who refers to Maurene as his very favorite aunt and as truly the matriarch of their family; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby extends congratulations to Maurene W. Bartlett on her 100th birthday and wishes her the best in the future.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
