IN THE COUNTY LEGISLATURE OF JACKSON COUNTY, MISSOURI Title A RESOLUTION recognizing Jerry Mackey for his seven years of service on the Jackson County Sports Complex Authority. Intro RESOLUTION # 11709, April 14, 1997 INTRODUCED BY Victor E. Callahan and Dennis Waits, County Legislators Body WHEREAS, in 1989, Governor John Ashcroft appointed Jerry Mackey to the Jackson County Sports Complex Authority; and, WHEREAS, Mr. Mackey has recently resigned after serving on the Authority for almost seven years; and, WHEREAS, during his tenure on the Authority, Mr. Mackey held the following offices: Chairman 1991-1992 First Vice Chairman 1989-1991 Treasurer 1989-1991 1992-1993 Secretary 1993-1997; and, WHEREAS, Mr. Mackey was well respected among his fellow members of the Sports Authority, known particularly for his humanity, dedication, and fair play; and, WHEREAS, Mr. Mackey's distinguished leadership capabilities also extended to other areas such as his membership and offices held in various organizations including Mid-America Regional Council, Plaza Hospital, Maywood Baptist Church, Three Trails Interpretive Center, Independence Community Foundation, Committee for Independence, Missouri Charter Amendment, Independence Chamber of Commerce, and Hope House, among many other organizations; and, WHEREAS, as a member of Maywood Baptist Church, Mr. Mackey's love for youth has kept him busy in the Youth Department where he has worked and participated as a chaperon on youth and ski trips; and, WHEREAS, Mr. Mackey has also served as a sponsor to more than 80 baseball teams in Independence, as well as girls' tennis and basketball, and men's basketball and bowling teams; and, WHEREAS, Mr. Mackey also received particular distinction by receiving the Independence Chamber of Commerce's top honor in 1987, the Distinguished Service Award; and, WHEREAS, Mr. Mackey is the current owner and operator of three local Hi-Boy drive-in restaurants, and is co-owner of the Steamboat Arabia Museum in Kansas City, Missouri; and, WHEREAS, Mr. Mackey and his wife, Joan, have five children, ranging in ages from 31 to 42; and, WHEREAS, admiration, respect and heartfelt appreciation go out to Mr. Mackey for his seven years of dedicated service to the Sports Complex Authority; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes Jerry Mackey for his outstanding service on the Jackson County Sports Complex Authority, and thanks him for his years of outstanding leadership in serving the citizens of Jackson County. Attorney Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
