Body
WHEREAS, Morgan Freeman is a notable actor that provokes emotional depth, subtle humor, and versatility make him one of the most respected performers of this generation; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Morgan has had an expansive career that includes numerous memorable performances on stage, screen, and television, in addition to his voice being the projection of numerous projects; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Freeman’s work has been recognized on many platforms, winning numerous awards including a Kennedy Center Honor in 2008, the Cecil B. DeMille Award in 2012, and winning a lifetime achievement award from the Screen Actors Guild in 2018; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Freeman will appear at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts on September 2 and 3, 2025, for "Morgan Freeman's Symphonic Blues Experience" featuring the Academy Award-winning actor narrating a blend of Mississippi Delta Blues and symphonic music, taking audiences on a cultural journey through the history of the genre; and,
WHEREAS, The Kansas City Symphony will perform alongside authentic Delta musicians, and the production includes cinematic storytelling and a live Q&A with Freeman; and,
WHEREAS, the Legislature and Jackson County realizes the importance of recognizing the works of Mr. Morgan Freeman as he has been a pillar in the performing arts community nationally; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes and celebrates the legendary Morgan Freeman.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
