WHEREAS, the Comprehensive Arts Institute was founded in 2011, with a vision to provide quality arts education, mentorship, leadership development, and creative opportunities for youth throughout the Kansas City community; and,
WHEREAS, for fifteen years, the Comprehensive Arts Institute has dedicated itself to empowering young people through music, creativity, discipline, collaboration, and artistic excellence, creating safe and inspiring spaces where students can grow in confidence and purpose; and,
WHEREAS, under the leadership of James and Angela Ward, the organization has impacted countless families, students, educators, and community members through performances, workshops, mentorship programs, and cultural enrichment initiatives; and,
WHEREAS, the Comprehensive Arts Institute has remained committed to preserving the rich tradition of jazz, creative expression, and community leadership of Kansas City, while preparing future generations to thrive artistically, academically, and personally; and,
WHEREAS, the organization has cultivated opportunities for youth who may not otherwise have access to high-quality instruction, encouraging excellence, self-expression, teamwork, leadership, and lifelong learning; and,
WHEREAS, the Comprehensive Arts Institute continues to serve as a cultural and educational beacon within Kansas City by bringing together students, families, artists, educators, and supporters in celebration of music, creativity, and community impact; and,
WHEREAS, the 15th Anniversary Gala, to be held on June 9, 2026, will recognize the remarkable accomplishments, enduring vision, and continued dedication of the Comprehensive Arts Institute and all who have contributed to its success over the years; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED that the Jackson County Legislature would like to join in celebration of the 15TH Anniversary of the Comprehensive Arts Institute and honor its extraordinary commitment to building leaders through music and creativity while recognizing its lasting contributions to the cultural and educational life of the Kansas City community.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
