Body
WHEREAS, every year the month of March is designated as Women’s History Month by Presidential Proclamation, to honor women’s contributions in American history and recognize trailblazing women who are doing work that lifts their communities; and,
WHEREAS, recognition is in order for a woman for her undoubted leadership and community services and that is Gwendolyn Grant; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Grant is relentless as an advocate for social justice and economic empowerment for African Americans and women; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Grant is the recipient of numerous honors including the National Urban League’s Whitney M. Young Leadership Award for Advancing Racial Equity, William Jewel College Yates Medallion for Distinguished Service, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference Community Service Award, 435 Magazine’s 50 Most Powerful, and the National Urban League Association of Executives Academy; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED that the Jackson County Legislature hereby honors Gwendolyn Grant for her fearless determination to improve the quality of life for those who are so often overlooked and forgotten.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
