IN THE COUNTY LEGISLATURE OF JACKSON COUNTY, MISSOURI Title A RESOLUTION expressing the sympathy of the legislature to Michele "Poochie" Ferguson and other family members and friends of Martha Helen Wilkinson, upon the occasion of her death. Intro RESOLUTION #11938, November 3, 1997 INTRODUCED BY Carl W. Bussey, County Legislator Body WHEREAS, it was with great sorrow that family and friends learned of the death of Martha Helen Wilkinson; and, WHEREAS, Martha was born May 18, 1920, in Columbus, Mississippi, to the late Julius and Obie Cole; and, WHEREAS, she received her early education in the public school system in Columbus, Mississippi, at the Union Academy; and, WHEREAS, Martha furthered her education at Campbell College in Jackson, Mississippi, and Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, Alabama, and later received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Avila College in Kansas City, Missouri; and, WHEREAS, she also received a Cosmetology Degree from Aline Jefferson Beauty Academy; and, WHEREAS, Martha was a member of St. Augustine's Episcopal Church; and, WHEREAS, she is survived by her husband James H. Wilkinson, her daughter Michele (previously a marriage license clerk in the Jackson County Records Department) and brother Scotty, her grandchildren Brittny Helena'Cole Ferguson, Brett Ferguson, Jr., Sidney Shea Webster, and Paige Nicole Wilkinson; and, WHEREAS, Martha will be remembered by her loving and encouraging ways and will be greatly missed by those who were a part of her life; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby extends its deepest sympathy to Michele Ferguson and other family members and friends of Martha Helen Wilkinson, upon the occasion of her death...Attorney Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
