Body
WHEREAS, Leonardo Cabrero spent four years in a Cuban prison where he was tortured physically and psychologically for his commitment to his faith; and,
WHEREAS, Leonardo was released from prison in 1998 through the efforts of the Vatican and Amnesty International; and,
WHEREAS, Reverend Mauricio Martinez and the Don Bosco Center assisted Leonardo and his family, wife Zoe Garza Cabrero, sons Allen and Adam, and daughter Graise, in relocating to Kansas City where he is a positive model of endurance and stability; and,
WHEREAS, Leonardo Cabrero is a pastor at Jesucristo Buen Pastor Church in Northeast Kansas City and has written a book entitled "Libre Entre Rejas" detailing his experiences in Cuba; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature recognizes Leonard Cabrero for his commitment and dedication to a positive way of life and extends sincere best wishes for continued success in his endeavors now and in the future.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
