Body
WHEREAS, Leah Williamson, a student at Lee's Summit West High School in the Lee's Summit R-7 School District, was recently selected to attend the Missouri Fine Arts Academy, a three-week residential summer program for students who have completed their sophomore or junior year of high school and are highly motivated in the fields of visual arts, theatre, dance, creative writing, and/or music; and,
WHEREAS, the Missouri Fine Arts Academy, founded in 1996, grew out of an interest in providing an opportunity and level of support necessary to challenge, motivate, and empower Missouri's most talented arts students; and,
WHEREAS, the Academy, held on the campus of Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri, offers an intensive schedule of classes in interdisciplinary and discipline-specific arts, and a wide range of co-curricular activities; and,
WHEREAS, students selected for the Academy must submit a portfolio or audition video, essay, and student evaluation form that is reviewed and judged by a panel of artists and educators; and,
WHEREAS, Leah's parents, Richard and Lisa Williamson, are justifiably proud of their daughter's accomplishments; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates Leah Williamson upon the occasion of her selection to attend the Missouri Fine Arts Academy, and extends best wishes to her in all of her future endeavors.

ffective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
