Body
WHEREAS, by Ordinance 4061, dated November 17, 2008, the County Legislature did adopt the annual budget for fiscal year 2008; and,
WHEREAS, by Resolution 16883, dated April 20, 2009, the Jackson County Legislature did authorize the County Executive to execute an Intergovernmental Agreement with the City of Kansas City, Missouri, to proceed with the implementation of a Regional Correctional Center to house City inmates and detainees at County facilities; and,
WHEREAS, the County anticipates hiring additional employees and other increased expenses associated with the food contract, medical services contract, supplies, and other contractual services associated with the Regional Correctional Center, for a total budget increase of $1,308,150.00; and,
WHEREAS, under the Intergovernmental Agreement, the City will pay a fee of $57.00 per day for 150 inmates, to be implemented effective August 1, 2009, for an increased revenue of $1,308,150.00; and,
WHEREAS, an amended budget is necessary to account for the increases per line item to operate the new facility, as is more fully set forth in the amended budget attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the attached amended budget for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2009, be and hereby is approved.

Effective Date: This Ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its signature by the County Executive.
