AN ORDINANCE transferring $5,085.00 within the 2006 General Fund, appropriating $11,752.00 from the unappropriated surplus of the 2006 Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fund, and authorizing a two-month extension of the Community Gun Violence Prosecution Grant awarded by the United States Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs.

Body
WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney's Office has been awarded a Community Gun Violence Prosecution Grant by the United States Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs; and,
WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs has approved an extension to the grant from November 1, 2006 through December 31, 2006; and,
WHEREAS, this grant extension will allow the office to increase the prosecution of violent firearms-related crimes and will provide $6,667.00 towards the salary and benefits of one assistant prosecutor for the months of November and December 2006; and,
WHEREAS, a match of $5,085.00 is required for this extension; and,
WHEREAS, a transfer and appropriation are necessary in order to place the grant and matching funds in the proper spending accounts; and,
WHEREAS, the County Executive recommends said transfer and appropriation; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following transfer within the 2006 General Fund and appropriation from the unappropriated surplus of the 2006 Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fund be and are hereby made:
