Body
WHEREAS, Fire Chief Charles Fisher began his career with the Kansas City, Missouri, Fire Department in 1957 as a fireman; and,
WHEREAS, over the years he was promoted to the positions of driver, captain, battalion chief, deputy chief, and in 1992 he became the Chief of the Kansas City, Missouri, Fire Department; and,
WHEREAS, during his five years as chief, Mr. Fisher was dedicated to the task of working with all available human and material resources for the purpose of maximizing the quality and efficiency of the department; and,
WHEREAS, Chief Fisher was responsible for improving medical training, pushing for the increased use of defibrillators, leading efforts to build a new hazardous materials unit headquarters, and ordering the testing of city equipment for safety purposes; and,
WHEREAS, Chief Fisher has fought many notable fires in the city including the Coates House fire in 1978, and he was at the scene of the Hyatt Regency Hotel skywalk collapse; and,
WHEREAS, Chief Fisher and his wife, Beth, have four children, Mike, Dan, Don, and Joyce, and have been blessed with 12 grandchildren; and,
WHEREAS, admiration, respect and heartfelt appreciation go out to Chief Fisher for his many years of public service to the citizens of Kansas City, Missouri; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates Fire Chief Charles Fisher on his 39 years with the Kansas City, Missouri, Fire Department, and wishes him success and satisfaction in all of his future endeavors...Attorney
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
