A RESOLUTION congratulating Tracie Tiensvold and her Truman High School Patriots softball coaches and teammates on their 3rd place finish at the Missouri Class 4A Championship.

Body
WHEREAS, on October 16, 2000, Truman High School Patriots won its first ever Class 4A state quarterfinal victory, 1-0, over the 1999 state champions Blue Springs High School Wildcats; and,
WHEREAS, although the Patriots-Wildcats quarterfinal game spanned two days because of bad weather, pitcher Tracie Tiensvold blazed the team through 35 scoreless innings, shattering the Missouri state record of 19 innings set in 1997; and ,
WHEREAS, the 35-inning Patriot-Wildcats game tied the national record for number of innings in a softball game, set in 1983; and,
WHEREAS, Tracie's outstanding performance during this 35-inning game received special recognition in Sports Illustrated magazine's Faces in the Crowd feature in its November 6, 2000 issue; and,
WHEREAS, Truman eventually captured 3rd place at the state tournament, finishing the season with a record of 28-5; and,
WHEREAS, Tracie's record was 25-2, with 219 innings pitched, 370 strikeouts, and 23 shutouts, 3 unintentional walks, and allowing only 54 hits and 3 runs.
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates the Truman High School softball coaches and team members: Lindsey Bowen, third base; Leslie Palmer, second base; Lauren Waits, center field; Sarah Davis, third base; Jakqualyn Hopkins, left field; Jennifer Salter, third base; Nicole Smith, shortstop; Kaytee Schulenberg, first base; Nina LanFranca, right field; Lindsey Gibb, first base; Deondra Hann, center field; Carmy Cessor, catcher; Tracie Tiensvold, pitcher; Brooke Gibb, left field; head coach Steve Broughton and assistant coach Amy Temples for an outstanding season.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
