Body

WHEREAS, by Resolution 15511, dated June 6, 2005, the Legislature did authorize the execution of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Local Union No. 42 of the International Association of Fire Fighters (the Union) to govern the terms and conditions of employment of members of its bargaining unit within the Prosecuting Attorney's Office through December 31, 2008; and,

 

WHEREAS, the parties have undertaken negotiations on a successor MOU, but have not yet reached agreement; and,

 

WHEREAS, by Resolution 16805, dated January 20, 2009, Resolution 16855, dated March 16, 2009, Resolution 16891, dated April 27, 2009, Resolution 16922, dated June 1, 2009, Resolution 16952, dated June 29, 2009, Resolution 16981, dated August 3, 2009, Resolution 16999, dated August 31, 2009, Resolution 17029, dated October 5, 2009, Resolution 17053, dated October 26, 2009, and Resolution 17088, dated November 23, 2009, and Resolution 17128, dated January 4, 2010, the Legislature did authorize the extension of the existing MOU through February 16, 2010; and,

WHEREAS, negotiations have continued to progress but have not yet resulted in a successor MOU to be recommended; and,

 

WHEREAS, in view of the pending negotiations, and in anticipation of arriving at a successor MOU, the Legislature has determined that it is appropriate to extend the terms of the prior MOU, save those governing compensation, through March 16, 2010; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri,  that the County Executive and the Prosecuting Attorney be and hereby is authorized to execute an Agreement to Extend MOU with Local Union No. 42 of the International Association of Fire Fighters, for a period ending March 16, 2010, in a form to be approved by the County Counselor.

 

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
