AN ORDINANCE authorizing the County Executive to execute an Intergovernmental Cooperative Agreement with the Missouri Department of Transportation to receive grant monies from the Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, for use on the Longview Lake Trail Replacement, at no cost to the County.

Body
WHEREAS, the Longview Lake Trail is in need of reconstruction; and,
WHEREAS, a grant opportunity was offered through the Mid America Regional Counsel (MARC) under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act; and,
WHEREAS, the County has applied for funds for the reconstruction of the Longview Lake Trail, and the application was approved in the amount of $250,000.00 for the rehabilitation; and,
WHEREAS, the attached Intergovernmental Cooperative Agreement is necessary for the County to accept these funds; and,
WHEREAS, the Missouri Department of Transportation specifically requested the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the supplemental agreement pursuant to the federal reimbursement requirements; and,
WHEREAS, this Agreement is recommended by the Public Works Department; and,
WHEREAS, this Agreement is in the best interest of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of the County; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute the attached Intergovernmental Cooperative Agreement with the Missouri Department of Transportation to receive grant monies for use on the Longview Lake Trail Replacement.
Fiscal Note
Effective Date: This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its signature by the County Executive.
