Body
WHEREAS, the City of Independence, Missouri ("City"), and the County have previously entered into a Cooperative Agreement for construction and operation of an Animal Shelter Facility to serve the City, and the unincorporated areas of the County, as well as specific communities located in the County; and,
 
WHEREAS, under that Agreement, the City commissioned a study with financial support from the County and has developed a preliminary design for the new shelter from Shelter Planners of America; and,
 
WHEREAS, by Resolution 16925 dated June 8, 2009, the legislature did authorize an Intergovernmental Agreement between the City of Independence and the County relating to the construction of a shared shelter facility; and,
 
WHEREAS, the animal control management team and Shelter Planners of America now recommend the execution of a professional services agreement for architectural design services; and,
 
WHEREAS, this Agreement is in the best interest of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of the County; now therefore,
 
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute the attached Agreement for Professional Architectural Design Services with Patterson Latimer Jones Brannon Denham Inc. Architects-Engineers, relating to the construction of the shared sheltering facility.
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Finance and Purchasing be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the Agreement.
 
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
