Body
WHEREAS, Jay Robert Curless III of Blue Springs, Missouri, has successfully completed all requirements to attain Scouting's highest honor, the rank of Eagle Scout, and will be recognized at the Eagle Court of Honor on October 15, 2011; and,
 
WHEREAS, Jay began scouting at the age of seven and is a member of Boy Scout Troop 332; and,
 
WHEREAS, Jay has served in numerous leadership positions, including Quartermaster, Assistant Patrol Leader, and Den-Chief, a mentoring position for the Cub Scouts; and,
 
WHEREAS, Jay is a member of two scouting honor organizations, a Hardway Warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say and a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow; and,
 
WHEREAS, Jay has worked for several years with special needs students at Franklin Smith Elementary School and at the Heart of America Council special needs camp held at the Rotary Youth Camp of Lee's Summit, Missouri; and,
WHEREAS, for his Eagle Scout project, Jay constructed a bed rail system at the camp that allows youths with disabilities to use the camp cabins; and,
 
WHEREAS, as a student in the Blue Springs School District, Jay is a Junior Air Force ROTC member and plans to enlist as an officer in the United States Navy after completing college; and,
 
WHEREAS, Jay's proud parents, Jay and Rebecca Curless of Blue Springs, Missouri, join in his celebration of this honor; now therefore,
 
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates Jay Robert Curless III upon successfully completing all requirements to attain Scouting's highest honor, the rank of Eagle Scout, and extends well-deserved recognition for his contributions to the Jackson County community.
 
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
