A RESOLUTION authorizing Change Order Nos. 11 and 12 to the contract with Walton Construction Co., of Kansas City, MO (Bid No. PW-2345, Bid Package No. 8), for various changes required in connection with general construction for the expansion at the Jackson County Detention Center, increasing the contract amount by $27,411.00 and $37,794.00, respectively.

WHEREAS, the County did, by Resolution 11712, dated April 14, 1997, enter into a contract with Walton Construction Co., Inc., in the actual amount of $6,762,426.00, and authorized additional expenditures approved by the County Executive at a cost not to exceed $338,121.00, for a total amount not to exceed $7,100,547.00, for general construction for the expansion at the Jackson County Detention Center; and,
WHEREAS, the County Executive has approved Change Orders' through 10 for a total of $334,111.00, adjusting the contract amount to the current authorization of $7,096,537.00, leaving a balance of $4,010.00 for additional expenditures; and,
WHEREAS, the proposed Change Order Nos. 11 and 12, copies of which are attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, are necessary due to miscellaneous contract changes and additions, and said change orders will result in increases not to exceed $27,411.00 and $37,794.00, for a new total cost not to exceed $7,161,742, respectively; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that Change Order Nos. 11 and 12 to the aforesaid contract are approved and the County Executive is authorized to execute the change orders on behalf of the County; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance is authorized to make all payments, except final payment on the contract.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
